Dear followers,

Today here I share few of my photographs portraying the night view of Darjeeling town and how the night sky really looks. Also below you can read about few basic tips on how to perform night photography.

For anyone who is interested to capture photographs like these, you do not have to purchase expensive photography gears or spend a fortune to be a photographer.

The first and the most important thing is your interest. If you build interest you would automatically make time to achieve something and you can achieve anything you want.

Get yourself a basic D-SLR camera and you are good to go.

Professionals do use expensive gears and lenses and that's up to you.

I would however suggest you to use wide angle lenses with the lowest aperture possible.

Few things to keep in mind while performing night photography:

1. Get yourself a steady tripod. This is important as you cannot shoot hand held due to low light and when taking long exposure shots, your hands will tend to become shaky and that will ruin your shot.

2. Avoid shooting during the rainy season as basically the weather plays an important factor. It is not completely right that you should avoid shooting in the rainy season, when you are in the middle of something and it starts to rain, that will ruin your entire photo assignment. Also there are chances you might get your gear wet and later that would spoil your device or damp would gradually start to appear inside your lenses.

3. Moisture check: Always keep a check on your lenses, by this I mean the mirror of the lenses would start to gather moisture so one must keep a check to wipe the moisture that accumulates on the front mirror of the lens. Use micro fiber cloth to keep the lens dry or else you photos tend to get hazy if you don't.

4. Remote timer: Although, I have never used a remote timer while performing the star trails photography till date. It is always recommended to make use of one as you will not have to keep attaining your camera for every shot. Just set the settings and you are good to go.
I have been using the live view of the camera and the touch facility simply allows me to shoot as per my choice. But to do this you need a lot of practice. Just give few tries and you will know what I mean.

5. Use manual focus: Since it is really dark you will have to switch to manual focus while shooting.
Always take few test shots and check the focus and you are good to go.

6. Be prepared: Always be prepared. By this I mean you may get carried away  to get that perfect shot but usually while shooting for prolonged periods, you tend to forget how cold it is outside. Always wear warm clothes if you are shooting late nights.

7. Practice, practice and practice: The most difficult thing to actually do as a photographer is to shoot.Never hesitate to shoot what you see or what you want or what you like.
Keep shooting day and night and that's exactly how you would improve day by day.

Hope, you all find these basic tips interesting and helpful.
